The Evening Primrose drawing is the showcased work this time. This drawing is the "E" in my original flower alphabet. I created the basic drawings for this alphabet with pencil on tracing paper years ago. Each letter of the alphabet is depicted by a flower that has a name that begins with that same letter. Those old sketches have been resting in a drawer for a very long while. I finally decided that this project was one whose time had come for completion. I chose to create vectors in Illustrator™, that seeming to be just about the perfect medium for the project. However, it is a slow process due to the degree of complexity in the designs. Also, the original drawings still require clarification and refining. |

The Evening Primrose is the piece I have most recently completed (the alphabet is being done in order from "A" to "Z"); it is also the most complex thus far.The first drawing on this page is the original pencil sketch which was scanned in high contrast for use as my template. |

The center drawing is the finished piece shown in Illustrator™ with the anchor points selected. It does look very interesting displayed this way, but those red lines and points would not be visible if not selected. The next time I choose to show a piece in this manner I will zoom in on a section of the work so that the demonstration of anchor points is more discernible. The bottom-most drawing is the representation of the actual finished piece. Currently it is in vector format only (except for the jpeg shown here), but it can easily be exported in a variety of formats. And being a vector, there are a number of other ways it can be displayed. But we will get into that with another project. |
