"The Cool Cat Card Collection began when
I lived in Seaview, Washington and was working at "Pastimes"
- a unique and wonderful coffeehouse/restaurant that also sold antiques
and collectibles. (Sorry to say, the shop is no longer with us.)"
"The series started with a few paintings
playing with the concept of specialty coffee drinks. But I quickly introduced
cats into the mix, and soon I was painting cats in all sorts of unique
situations. I love playing with words and often a play on words was
the inspiration for the paintings.
I had photo reproductions of the paintings done to create the cards,
and began selling them at Pastimes. In no time at all, the cards were
being sold in numerous coffeehouses and gift shops throughout the Pacific
Northwest.
The original paintings are small, most of them measuring 7 x 10 inches.
I use my favorite watercolor technique of gradually building up thin
washes to create the color and give the line definition. This technique
requires meticulous precision and is very time-consuming. I spend many,
many hours creating a painting. But I do love the final result!
I hope you enjoy the cards as much as I did in creating them. I hope
to make additions to the series in the very near future!" ........................

p.s. When it's time to invite
your family and friends to special events or on occasions like Christmas,
Birthdays, Anniversaries, Family or Class Reunions, business or office
events, etc.: Why not send an invitation or greeting featuring the Cool
Cats?
The Cool Cat Card Collection is a series of cards
depicting a lovable group of cats in a variety of humorous, whimsical
situations. Many of them utilize a subtle play on words, adding an extra
bit of wit to the piece.
These greeting cards are all photo reproductions
of original watercolor paintings done by artist Linda Jean Thille.
The reproductions have been mounted on quality white card stock. The
cards are a generous 5 inches by 7 inches.
Inside the quality of the mounting stock is revealed and leaves a clean
white face for fine printing mediums or handwritten personal expressions.
Each card is individually signed by the artist and packaged with white envelopes
in a clear cellophane sleeve.
The paintings used for the designs are meticulously built up of numerous
washes and glazes. This exacting technique imparts a richness and depth
otherwise unattainable and can take up to forty or more hours to complete.
Many of the original paintings that were used to design these cards
have been sold and can be found in homes and private collections from
Seattle to Washington, D.C.
